Supporting trans, non-binary and intersex adults in Sussex
The Clare Project began in 2000 when a group of trans women started meeting in the back room of a hairdressing salon to discuss issues affecting their local community. We are now a registered charity run by and for trans, non-binary, gender-variant and gender-questioning people in Brighton, Hove and East Sussex. We run psychosocial support groups, information sessions, workshops and excursions, as well as providing information and training for individuals and organisations on community needs, and connecting people to affirmative peer support, psychotherapy and healthcare. We also offer some support and advocacy for people who are intersex / have variations in their biological sex characteristics.

This gives people who cannot attend our drop-in, because of geographical distance, financial issues, disability, or anxiety, the chance to meet and socialise with our community and access support online. They also run in the evening, giving people who work 9-5 the opportunity to join us more easily. The online socials run fortnightly and are spaces where trans, non-binary, intersex, gender-variant and gender-questioning people can come along to connect with each other, chat and find out more about local support services.
